Acorde is not a school, but it is a place of education.

Education that enables people to develop in all their dimensions, in a relationship of care for life.

Who we are

Wake Up Human Development

We are a civil society organization that since 2001 has contributed to the development of children, adolescents and young people living in the cities of Embu das Artes and Cotia, in the metropolitan region of the State of São Paulo.

Mission

“Promote conditions for the development of children, adolescents and young people in situations of social vulnerability, based on cultural, social and educational experiences.”

Vision

“Every child, teenager and young person exercising their right to play, dream and be whoever they want.”

Letter of Purpose

We want to live in a society capable of combating inequality and all forms of discrimination, with significant participation from all of society, especially those historically excluded from the process of social construction. We want decolonial development that makes sense for the diverse realities in which we live.

We believe in people and their ability to develop their potential when they have access to the right opportunities and conditions for each individual, since no two people are the same. We want to be part of building a more valuable and fulfilling collective life. We also believe that each person should be able to recognize their rights and have the necessary tools to exercise them.

We want to live in a society that values, strives and acts in an articulated manner to protect, care for and provide every possible opportunity for each child, adolescent and young person to develop fully, realize their potential and be able to weave the plots of their own future.

23 years of Acorde

By Joana Lee Ribeiro Mortari, CEO

“Acorde was founded in 2001, as a result of my parents’ desire to give back to society in the region close to where they live, in Jardim Tomé, in Embu das Artes. They started with a survey in the region to understand the needs.

Thus, Acorde was born as an initiative to serve the daughters and sons of families in the region, during the period outside of school attendance, offering not only the safe space that families needed, but a place for them to develop."

"The name Acorde is a combination of musical chord and the verb to wake up, in the sense of awakening the desire to learn"

Socio-educational programs

Structured to meet the development of children, adolescents and young people in a training cycle that integrates a diversity of socio-emotional, artistic, physical and cultural axes, that is, they start at age 7 and finish at age 18.
